About the position

The Medical Unit for Intensive Care and Thoracic Surgery is integral to our new operational model. This unit brings together the hospital's resources in anesthesia, surgery, and intensive care, serving as a hospital-wide hub for patient-focused, high-quality, and innovative care, as well as research and education in perioperative medicine and intensive care (PMI) for adult patients.

You will join a dedicated team of around 70 staff members, including 7 perfusionists. Our multidisciplinary team includes anesthesiologists, surgeons, operating room nurses, anesthesia nurses, and nurse assistants. We manage a broad range of cardiac surgeries, ventricular assist device (VAD) implants, and ECMO treatments (including ECPR). Our department handles close to 1100 extracorporeal circulation (ECC) cases per year and 40-50 ECMO runs annually. As leaders in minimally invasive surgery, we are one of Sweden’s largest centers in this field.

The position includes a 40-hour workweek with on-call duties.

We offer a six-month trial period with the possibility of transitioning to a permanent position.

Qualifications

Required

  • Perfusionist training meeting the standards of the European Board of Cardiovascular
  • Perfusion or equivalent, with at least two years of relevant experience
  • Proficiency in English is required.

Meritorious

  • Research experience, either independently or as part of a research group, is highly valued.
  • To be considered for permanent employment, good knowledge of the Swedish language will be required.
