We are looking for two skilled perfusionists to join our team and play a key role in shaping the future of cardiac surgery at Karolinska. This is a unique opportunity to actively contribute to a transformative journey, with value-based care and patient-centered services at the forefront.

At Karolinska University Hospital, the Medical Unit for Intensive Care and Thoracic Surgery is integral to our new operational model. This unit brings together the hospital's resources in anesthesia, surgery, and intensive care, serving as a hospital-wide hub for patient-focused, high-quality, and innovative care, as well as research and education in perioperative medicine and intensive care (PMI) for adult patients.

About the Position

You will join a dedicated team of around 70 staff members, including 7 perfusionists. Our multidisciplinary team includes anesthesiologists, surgeons, operating room nurses, anesthesia nurses, and nurse assistants. We manage a broad range of cardiac surgeries, ventricular assist device (VAD) implants, and ECMO treatments (including ECPR). Our department handles close to 1100 extracorporeal circulation (ECC) cases per year and 40-50 ECMO runs annually. As leaders in minimally invasive surgery, we are one of Sweden’s largest centers in this field.

We offer a six-month trial period with the possibility of transitioning to a permanent position. The role includes a 40-hour workweek with on-call duties.
