Are you a medical doctor specialized in neonatology, passionate about working in a highly specialized environment that focuses on family-centered, developmentally supportive care and intensive care? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team at the largest neonatology center in Sweden. We are seeking a new colleague who shares our dedication and expertise in this field.
With us you will work in one of Europes largest centers for neonatology. We can offer you a challenging job conducting highly specialized intensive care and neonatal care as we are responsible for the county's prematurity care for children born before 28 weeks of pregnancy. In addition you will lead and supervise younger colleagues and will be given good opportunities for your own research.
You will be offered to take part of the general offers and deals that all staff at Karolinska University Hospital are offered such as a generous wellness grant.
The neonatal care unit at Karolinska University Hospital is the largest regional center in northern Europe, serving a region with over 30,000 births annually and comprising 82 care places. Our focus is on highly specialized intensive care and neonatal care, including prematurity care for infants born before 28 weeks of pregnancy, respiratory care, and hypothermia treatment. We are a national resource in various areas, such as neonatal pediatric surgery, pediatric cardiology, nephrology, hepatology, metabolic diseases, neonatal neurology, and neurosurgery.
The Medical Unit Neonatology is divided into three sections located in Danderyd, Solna, and Huddinge, all within the Stockholm area. We work closely with the ECMO center, the pediatric intensive care unit (BIVA), and the national health service for invasive fetal therapy. Our emergency neonatal transport service (ANTS) operates 24/7, providing intensive care and transportation for children both within and outside the country.
In addition to intensive care, our departments handle basic neonatology. Our care philosophy is centered around family-focused developmentally supportive care, and we have a Karolinska NIDCAP Training Center on site. We have recently built modern wards that facilitate care for both mothers and their children. Our commitment to medical care, nursing, and research is strong, encompassing experimental, epidemiological, and clinical studies.
We are currently seeking four assistant consultant neonatologists and two neonatal consultants to join our neonatal operations. The expectation is that you will work at all three of our units in Huddinge, Solna, and Danderyd. In ME neonatology, each doctor has a base unit (Solna, Danderyd, or Huddinge) where they are primarily located.
As a doctor in ME neonatology, you will lead and supervise doctors during specialist training, students, and nursing staff. Research, development, and education are integral components of the role. Collaboration and interprofessional work within teams and multidisciplinary care of our patients are essential aspects of your responsibilities.
Our care model is centered on actively involving the children's guardians in their care and treatment, promoting a family-centered approach.
If you possess a strong knowledge base, competence, dedication, and adaptability, then you are the ideal candidate we are searching for. A strong commitment to teamwork, a genuine concern for patients, and excellent interpersonal skills are essential qualities we value. As a doctor and leader, you demonstrate directness, maintain a holistic perspective, make decisive decisions, and provide guidance in an ever-evolving organization.
Furthermore, a profound interest in research, development, and education is a prerequisite for all doctors in ME neonatology.
