Do you want to work with developing the cell therapy products of the future for the treatment of severe medical conditions? We are currently looking for an experienced scientist with interest in eukaryotic cell culture to work together with a group of committed colleagues on the development of products for clinical trials.

About us

Vecura is a unit at Karolinska Center for Cell Therapy at Karolinska University Hospital that manufactures advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMP) for clinical trials. Vecura has more than twenty years experience of acting as a contract manufacturer for clinical studies around Europe.

Vecura holds licence from the Swedish Medical Products Agency (Läkemedelsverket) for the manufacturing of cell and gene therapy products for clinical trials. Vecura also holds tissue establishment licence for the handling of cells and tissues for transplantation. Processing of cells classified as drugs (ATMP) takes place according to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) in our GMP facility. The produced investigational drugs have been used to treat patients with various types of cancer, Alzheimer's, HIV and hepatitis, among others.

About the position

The position is in a close collaboration with XNK Therapeutics within the AdBIOPRO competence center. Your work will involve various tasks, but primarily focus on the development of cell therapy products from primary cells for clinical trials. You will work with cell cultures of human immune cells and tumour cells using various systems. The work is partly conducted in a cleanroom environment.

You will carry out development work on the production of NK cells which entails, among other things, characterisations of cell cultures by flow cytometry, functionality assays. Additionally, ‑omics analyses as well as optimisation and incorporation of technical / automated culture systems will be part of your daily work.

The position is a fixed-term employment.

Qualifications

Required:

  • PhD in immunology, cell biology or similar
  • Experience of working with mammalian cell cultures
  • Experienced with working in sterile environment
  • Fluent in English

Meriting:

  • Experience of flow cytometry
  • Previous experience of ATMPs and cell therapy
  • Experience of working with primary cells
  • Interest/knowledge in omics
  • Experience of working according to GMP or similar regulations
