The Centre for Digestive Health is recognized for the management of complex
gastrointestinal conditions. Our IBD unit cares for approximately 5,000 IBD patients and
provides a comprehensive multidisciplinary approach with advanced therapies and imaging. Our Intestinal Failure unit serves as a national reference centre, and we host one of only two IBUS-certified intestinal ultrasound training centres in Sweden. Neurogastroenterology patients are primarily managed at the South Campus, which hosts the GastroLab, dedicated to the assessment of gastrointestinal function and physiology.
Close integration with Karolinska Institutet provides a strong research environment for translational and registry-based studies. Karolinska University Hospital is ranked #5 worldwide and #1 in Europe in Newsweek’s 2025 World’s Best Hospitals list.
